The Mango Farmers Scheme is launched by the Karnataka Government for the 2025-26 season is a major step towards protecting lives of mango farmers. Mango is one of the commercial fruit crops in Karnataka, especially in Bangalore Rural, Ramanagara, Kolar, and Chikkaballapur. Due to the recent market fluctuations of late, there has been a swift price drops, leaving farmers helpless during the peak of their harvesting season.
To tackle this, the Price Deficiency Payment Scheme under the Market Intervention Scheme, in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has been put forth by the Government. With an expected mango output of 8 to 10 lakh metric tonnes, this scheme aims to bridge the gap between the Market Intervention Price and actual market prices, ensuring that mango growers do not suffer from poor returns.
With ₹101 crore of budget allocation, out of which the Central Government would pay 50%, this scheme will be implemented for just one month. During that month, compensation will be received by the farmers through the sale transactions conducted in the APMC (Agricultural Produce Market Committee) Mandis.

About Mango Farmers Scheme
The Mango Farmers Scheme for the benefit of mango growers is popularly called the Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS). This program was introduced by the Karnataka State Government for the 2025–26 marketing season to support mango growers during market price fluctuations. The scheme has been developed in partnership with the Central Government under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) framework.
This scheme works when the market price falls below the fixed price, creating a deficit between the market price and the fixed price. To the extent of deficit, the government pays a compensation amount to the growers.
